Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is pleased to announce its agreement with ConnXus, an online service that helps corporations to locate, evaluate and engage small, minority- or woman-owned businesses.
Cincinnati Children’s has a goal to spend 7.5 percent of the medical center’s annual budget for purchased goods and services with minority- and women-owned (MWBE) businesses. ConnXus will provide services to support the Cincinnati Children’s Supplier Diversity efforts by expanding the medical center’s access and connections to small and diverse suppliers.
Rod Robinson, founder, president and CEO of ConnXus, explains that his former work experiences led him to create a one- stop shop for supplier diversity.
“After leading and working in purchasing departments throughout my career I started to see a need for a fully integrated supplier diversity system that could provide companies with a comprehensive set of services and tools as it pertained to supplier diversity,” he says.
“From that need, the idea of ConnXus was started and we’ve been providing our services to companies for the last three years.”
ConnXus’ mission is to be a catalyst of economic growth by making it easier for its members to do business with one another.
De Asa Brown, Supplier Diversity Manager, and the person who will manage the Cincinnati Children’s-ConnXus relationship says that she is looking forward to working with the company.
“We are excited to work with ConnXus, one of a few local and minority-owned businesses that works to connect large corporations like Cincinnati Children’s with small and diverse suppliers to increase business opportunities,” she explains.
Robinson says that the healthcare market is very important to his company and that the relationship with Cincinnati Children’s is only the start of ConnXus working with health care providers within the region and nationally.
