As Cincinnati Children’s continues to fulfill its vision to be the leader in improving child health, we are proud to embark on the next phase of our collaboration with Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), the leading healthcare provider in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and a subsidiary of PureHealth, the largest integrated healthcare network in the Middle East.
Building on more than 15 years of collaboration in the region, this bold new chapter will not only redefine how and where Cincinnati Children’s delivers care – it will also elevate pediatric healthcare across Abu Dhabi and the greater Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). By working alongside SEHA Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), we aim to establish a world-class pediatric center of excellence, ensuring that more children receive the highest standard of care, no matter where they live.
This transformative collaboration spans all aspects of pediatric care, research and education, uniting the expertise of Cincinnati Children’s with the vision of SEHA SKMC to set new benchmarks in child health. It follows a six-month assessment conducted by Cincinnati Children’s to evaluate the current landscape of pediatric services in the region and SEHA’s readiness to deliver the highest standard of specialized care.
Daniel von Allmen, MD, chief of surgery at Cincinnati Children’s, will assume the role of UAE regional president. A globally respected leader in pediatric surgery, von Allmen has been surgeon in chief for more than a decade. His remarkable contributions to advancing pediatric health – both in the operating room and through training the next generation of surgeons – have shaped care models that improve outcomes for children worldwide.
“I am honored to bring Cincinnati Children’s expertise to this partnership and to collaborate with our colleagues in the UAE,” von Allmen said. “Every time we share knowledge, we gain new insights. This partnership is not just about improving care in one region – it’s about transforming pediatric health globally. By working together, we can change the trajectory of children’s health, both in the United States and around the world.”
As surgeon in chief, von Allmen played a pivotal role in evolving and expanding highly specialized programs, including fetal care, esophageal surgery, epilepsy surgery, hip preservation, and pancreatic programs. His leadership has left a lasting impact, not only in advancing surgical techniques but also in fostering a culture of innovation that extends beyond the walls of Cincinnati Children’s.
This next phase of our collaboration with SEHA marks a major milestone in our global mission: ensuring that every child – no matter where they are born – has access to the care, expertise and innovation needed to thrive. Together, we have the power to change the outcome for children around the world.
