Who should I call if I think my child is experiencing symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19)?
If you think your child has COVID-19, you should first call your primary care provider. If they are not available, you can use the CincyKids Health Connect app to talk to a Cincinnati Children’s provider about next steps, without leaving home.
This service, provided free of charge to families, is staffed by 2-3 advanced practice nurses from 6am to 10pm. Providers will evaluate each patient using video visit technology. During your visit, they will screen for travel or contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19 and direct you with options for further evaluation. Because widespread testing is still not available, these visits are intended to assist you with instructions about where to go, who to contact, or how to manage your child’s symptoms at home safely.
If a patient meets COVID-19 testing criteria, the provider can order a COVID-19 test for a scheduled appointment at a Cincinnati Children's drive-up testing location. Note, this testing is only available through a provider's order and a scheduled appointment.
For patients who have minor symptoms and do not meet testing criteria at the time of the visit, they will receive guidance from the provider for monitoring at home and instructions for follow-up, if needed.
This service is for children 18 years and younger in Ohio and Kentucky only. This service will not evaluate children for concerns not related to COVID-19. Wait times may fluctuate depending on the volume of video visits.
CincyKids Health Connect also offers a service for minor injuries and illnesses that allows you to see a pediatric expert from your smartphone or computer 24/7. Those video visits cost $49.
CincyKids Health Connect video visits are private and secure. Your information is protected and only shared with your designated primary care physician and pharmacy, just like an in-person visit.
