Heart Clinic on the Mobile Care Center

The Heart Clinic on the Mobile Care Center brings our specialized pediatric and adult congenital heart services closer to families who need them. Our healthcare team travels with the Mobile Care Center to local communities. This makes it more convenient for you to receive expert heart care closer to home.

You’ll receive the same high level of care on the Mobile Care Center that you receive when you visit any of our other Cincinnati Children’s Heart Institute locations.

Heart Clinic services on the Mobile Care Center are for new patients and those needing follow-up visits. We offer both pediatric and adult congenital heart clinics. Services include:

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who should access our Heart Clinic on the Mobile Care Center?

New patients with heart complaints such as chest pain, heart murmur or dizziness can be seen at the Heart Clinic on the Mobile Care Center. Some patients who have been seen at Cincinnati Children’s before and are being monitored for a heart condition may be seen for follow-up visits on the Mobile Care Center.

Specialty services and other testing beyond EKG, Holter monitor and echocardiogram are not available on the Mobile Care Center.

  • How are patients referred to the Mobile Care Center?

All pediatric appointments are by provider referral. Providers can refer a patient to the Heart Clinic on the Mobile Care Center by faxing a referral to 513-803-1111. Please note “Mobile Care Center” on the referral sheet.

Patients can request a referral by calling 513-636-4432.

Adult patients can schedule appointments through the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program by calling 513-803-2243.

Our schedulers will be alerted when patients from specific ZIP codes call for appointments. Certain ZIP codes and/or mailing addresses will signal the scheduler to ask if the patient would like to be seen at the Mobile Care Center.

  • How will I know if I can be seen on the Mobile Care Center?

Your provider and/or our schedulers can help determine if you can visit the Mobile Care Center.

  • Will patients being seen for follow-up visits on the Mobile Care Center see their regular provider?

Not necessarily. The pediatric and adult congenital heart doctor(s) on the Mobile Care Center will be there on a regular basis. This may not be the same doctor you have seen in the past. If you have already built a relationship with a specialist at one of our other locations, you may choose to continue seeing that doctor at that location.

  • Will the provider on the Mobile Care Center have my medical records?

The healthcare team on the Mobile Care Center will be able to access your medical records just like at any other Cincinnati Children’s location. If you have already seen a provider at another one of our locations, you can transition your follow-up care to the Mobile Care Center if you like. All you need to do is schedule your next appointment at the Mobile Care Center. The provider there will be able to view your Cincinnati Children’s electronic medical records using our secure software.

  • Does insurance or Medicaid cover visits at the Mobile Care Center?

Heart Clinic visits on the Mobile Care Center will operate as any other outpatient location. All visits will be billed and covered the same as for any Cincinnati Children’s visit.

  • Do I have to go to the Mobile Care Center?

Some patients will choose to continue their care at one of our other locations, and that’s fine. You will not be required to visit a certain location unless a test is needed that is only available at one location.

  • Is the Mobile Care Center handicap-accessible?

Yes, there is a lift in one of the exam rooms, and our staff can assist.

  • Are other services available on the Mobile Care Center?

The Heart Clinics are the first service available on the Mobile Care Center. Additional services will be available in the future.

  • What do I do when I arrive?

The Mobile Care Center’s entrance is clearly marked. When you enter, you’ll see a registration area and a Cincinnati Children’s registration kiosk, similar to how our clinics are set up in our other locations. Check in at the kiosk and then wait in the waiting area before being called back to an exam room. Our staff will welcome you and be available to assist.

  • Where are the restrooms?

You will be able to use the restrooms in the facility near the Mobile Care Center. Our staff can direct you where to go.

  • What will happen if I need emergency care while I’m on the Mobile Care Center?

Urgent and emergency situations on the Mobile Care Center will be handled like at any of our other outpatient and neighborhood locations. We will call for transport to get patients to Burnet Campus or Liberty Campus if needed.

  • Are clinics held if there’s inclement weather?

Patient safety is our priority. When bad weather is forecasted, we will closely monitor National Weather Service advisories and school closings. If the Mobile Care Center must be closed due to inclement weather, we will notify all patients as soon as possible.

  • Who should I contact if I have questions about my Mobile Care Center visit or if I need to reschedule?

Please call 513-636-4432 for pediatric patients and 513-803-2243 for adult patients.
