Helping You Prepare for Your Child’s Tongue Tie Evaluation
At the Complex Speech and Tongue Tie Clinic, we provide personalized treatment and coordinated care. Learn what you can expect when you visit our comprehensive clinic.
Making an Appointment
Your child’s pediatrician or other specialist can refer your child to our center for evaluation and care. Any child with concern for a tongue or oral tie over the age of two is eligible. Once we have the referral, our office will contact you to schedule an appointment.
On the Day of Your Visit
Before Your Appointment
Plan to arrive about 30 minutes before your child’s appointment. This will allow you 15 minutes to park and walk to our clinic, and 15 minutes to check in at our registration desk. Our clinic is located on the Burnet Campus. Please contact us if you are running late for your appointment.
At Your Appointment
Children will meet with both the ENT physician and the speech language pathologist for an initial visit and exam. The speech pathologist will then perform a detailed assessment of the child’s speech and oromotor skills. The team will then come back into the room together and discuss a detailed plan with the family.
We may recommend a hearing test to be completed, which can be done during the same visit.
Each visit lasts between 45-90 minutes.
You will have a personalized treatment plan developed by the end of your first visit.
