Personalized Treatment Options for Your Child
Treatment for tongue ties is never “one size fits all.” Our team will provide a unified treatment plan that may include one or more of the following:
- Surgery
- A lingual frenulectomy is a procedure to clip the thin piece of tissue that connects the tongue to the floor of the mouth or gum. A frenotomy can be used to treat children who are tongue-tied (ankyloglossia).
- An upper lip chelioplasty is a procedure to clip the thin piece of tissue that connects the inside of the upper lip to the upper gum. A chelioplasty can be used to treat children with an upper lip tie.
- Speech therapy
- We may create a list of exercises specific to your child’s needs that can be performed at home.
- We may recommend initiating speech therapy or adjusting your current treatment plan.
- We want to ensure that there are no other factors that could be contributing to speech concerns.
