Personalized Treatment Options for Your Child

Treatment for tongue ties is never “one size fits all.” Our team will provide a unified treatment plan that may include one or more of the following:

  • Surgery
    • A lingual frenulectomy is a procedure to clip the thin piece of tissue that connects the tongue to the floor of the mouth or gum. A frenotomy can be used to treat children who are tongue-tied (ankyloglossia).
    • An upper lip chelioplasty is a procedure to clip the thin piece of tissue that connects the inside of the upper lip to the upper gum. A chelioplasty can be used to treat children with an upper lip tie.
  • Speech therapy
    • We may create a list of exercises specific to your child’s needs that can be performed at home.
    • We may recommend initiating speech therapy or adjusting your current treatment plan.
    Audiogram (hearing test)
    • We want to ensure that there are no other factors that could be contributing to speech concerns.
