The Hemophilia Center at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center offers comprehensive therapies for patients with hemophilia. These include ongoing medical care through our clinics, an extensive Home Treatment Program and our Factor Program, as well as physical therapy and early surgical intervention to help prevent joint damage.
The Hemophilia Center’s extensive diagnostic capabilities are enhanced by the coagulation laboratory, which allows our team to receive high-quality test results quickly, rather than having to rely on an outside testing facility.
A child’s first visit to the Hemophilia Center usually takes about a day and includes a complete physical exam, lab tests and an appointment with a social worker, who helps families connect with helpful resources.
After reviewing the results of this initial evaluation, members of the care team talk with the family about the child’s condition and medical needs. They also provide a written summary and treatment recommendations for the patient’s family and referring physician.
Also, our team provides newborn consultations at area hospitals when a diagnosis of hemophilia is suspected or has been confirmed.
