What Is a PET Scan?
PET (positron emission tomography) scan is a type of imaging test used in the diagnosis of LCH. A radioactive sugar is injected into a vein allowing for active LCH cells to show up brighter on the scan. PET scan is more sensitive than some other types of imaging, such as skeletal survey or bone scan, for diagnosing LCH and evaluating for effectiveness of treatment because the PET scan shows active disease.
Should My Other Children Be Checked for LCH?
