Mass Spectrometry Instrumentation

The following instrumentation is available in the Clinical Mass Spectrometry Laboratory:

  • High resolution VG-Autospec magnetic sector mass spectrometer capable of GC-MS & FAB-MS
  • Two Waters Micro-Xevo electrospray ionization triple-quadrupole UPLC-MS instruments
  • A Waters Premier electrospray ionization triple-quadrupole UPLC-MS instrument
  • Two Waters Xevo TQ-S electrospray triple quadrupole UPLC-MS instruments
  • A Waters Xevo TQ-XS electrospray triple quadrupole UPLC-MS instrument
  • A Thermo TSQ triple quadrupole instrument with paperspray ionization
  • An AB Sciex 4500Qtrap instrument
  • An AB Sciex 5500 QTrap instrument
  • A Waters GC-TOF instrument
  • A Waters Xevo G2S QTOF instrument

All instruments are supported by dedicated computer systems. Support analytical equipment includes four Hewlett-Packard 5890 capillary column gas chromatography instruments. The usual array of peripheral analytical equipment is available including an electronic balance, pH meters, distillation equipment, bench-top centrifuges, and rotary evaporators.
