Sheldon M. Polonsky, MD

My clinical specialties are general and community pediatrics. I enjoy working with children and families and love to help with their development and social interactions. I appreciate the resiliency, unfiltered joy and optimism displayed by children.

I’m also a physician analyst. Most of this work is performed outside of the clinic, developing the computerized medical record system, Epic. I also help providers implement and use the system to be more efficient in their practices. I help them to retrieve the data from their visits, so they can analyze it, perform their own research and ultimately achieve better patient outcomes.

My background is in epidemiology and biostatistics. I have been heavily involved with implementing computerized medical record systems for more than 19 years. I was one of the first in Cincinnati to implement Epic and use it in my general practice. I’ve always felt it is important to be on the frontlines of technology.

I have been with Cincinnati Children's for more than 12 years — since they decided to implement Epic. I am an Epic Physicians Advisory Council Scholar (2009), and I have multiple certifications in EpicCare Ambulatory and programming. I will soon have board certification in Clinical Informatics through the American Board of Preventive Medicine.
