I have known that I wanted to be in the nursing profession since I was a child. My mother was a nurse and exposed me to this field early in my life. I learned very quickly during my clinical rotations in nursing school that pediatrics was my calling.

As a nurse practitioner, I work in six surgical divisions, including orthopaedic surgery, pediatric surgery, adolescent gynecology, plastic surgery, urology and otolaryngology. We often communicate with the surgeons in each of these divisions to assure them that our patients are receiving the best care possible.

After working many years in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) as a nurse, I realized that I needed to advance my career and become a nurse practitioner. Seeing a variety of specialties in the PICU led me to my current nurse practitioner career.

As the lead advanced practice provider for our team of nurse practitioners and physician assistants, I have been acknowledged for my leadership skills.

In my practice, I focus not only on the patient but the family as a whole. Healing needs to occur in the whole family unit. I appreciate any input from the family as it can be crucial in the diagnosis and treatment of their child.

During my free time, I enjoy being with my husband and our two children. I spend lots of time helping at my children's school and with their activities and sports. I love to do anything outdoors, including walking my dog, gardening and playing sports. I also love baking and serving baked goods to my family and friends.
