The Neuro-Oncology Fellowship

The Neuro-Oncology Fellowship at Cincinnati Children's provides intensive, highly subspecialized multidisciplinary clinical and research training in neuro-oncology to physicians who have completed fellowship training in pediatric hematology/oncology or pediatric neurology.

Cincinnati Children’s is the ideal environment for advanced training in pediatric neuro-oncology given the expertise of the Brain Tumor Center and the exceptional resources in Pathology, Radiation-Oncology, Neurology, Neuroimaging, Neurosurgery, Endocrinology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Clinical Pharmacology.

Program Objectives

  • To provide supervised training, with increasing responsibility, in the inpatient and outpatient practice of neuro-oncology, including principles of diagnosis and management of CNS tumors, side effects of treatments, and related supportive care measures
  • To provide supervised training in aspects of clinical/translational and/or basic research in neuro-oncology
  • To provide training in the technical aspects of procedures related to neuro-oncology, including administration of chemotherapy, other anti-neoplastic therapy, and related specialized procedures
  • To develop skills and a familiarity with the process of clinical trial development and conduct; academic presentations and/or publications; federal and private grant submissions; and independent research
  • To provide mentoring in the transition to an independent career as a pediatric neuro-oncologist and clinical/translational investigator
