Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries (ccTGA) in Children

What Is Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries?

Congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (ccTGA) is a rare heart defect that is present at birth. It is also called L-Transposition of the great arteries (L-TGA).

In children with ccTGA, the heart’s lower chambers (ventricles) and major arteries are switched. The right chamber is on the left, and the left chamber is on the right. This is called ventricular inversion. Also, the major blood vessels—the aorta and the pulmonary artery—are swapped. This is called arterial transposition.
