Community physician survey results are in

Staff Bulletin.Every two years, we send a perception survey to community providers who are on staff or refer to Cincinnati Children’s regularly. The purpose of the survey is to understand how you view specific areas of the medical center so that we can make process improvements to fit your needs.

Last November through February, we emailed surveys to more than 800 physicians who practice medicine in the local market. In all, 197 of you responded, which reflects a 24.3 percent completion rate. Thank you!

This survey was dramatically different from our previous community provider surveys. In the past, we conducted them by phone. This time, the survey was exclusively electronic and could be completed from a computer or mobile device.

We also reduced the length of the survey – from 100 questions about several services areas in the medical center to approximately 20 questions that focused specifically on access and communication. You’ve told us before that access and communication are key areas of concern.

We hope that, by creating a shorter electronic survey, you found it easier to provide crucial feedback in a timely way. Our tests showed that the average survey completion time was 6 minutes and 48 seconds, compared to upward of 20 minutes for previous surveys.

We will share survey results and action plans in a future article. Meanwhile, we are sharing results internally so that work groups can address the issues you’ve raised. The primary group working will be the Referring Physician Task Force led by Derek Wheeler, MD, and Kathy Vuturo, vice president of Planning and Strategy. The task force was created to support the Impact pillar of the 2020 Strategic Plan. The Impact pillar emphasizes the intentional work targeted toward community physicians that will ensure we remain the community hospital of choice.
