Second annual conference addresses heroin addiction

There’s still time to register for “Changing the Future of Children of Addicted Parents,” presented on Friday, November 17, by Cincinnati Children’s, in partnership with the Children of Addicted Parents Collaborative. The conference will be held from 7 am to 5 pm, at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington, KY.

National and regional experts will address the issues affecting children exposed to opioids in utero or living with the chaos of being the child of a parent with a substance abuse problem. Topics include:

  • The future of neonatal abstinence syndrome and the long-term outcomes of in utero exposure
  • Psychosocial and mental health aspects of living with parents affected by substance abuse
  • Educational issues of children affected by parental substance abuse
  • Children’s services and the implication of removing children from their parents
  • Solutions to the socio-emotional, educational and socio-economic issues children of addicted parents face
