DDBP changes age limit for new referrals

Due to increasing demand for services (over 550 new referrals monthly), the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (DDBP) will be limiting new referrals to children 12 years 11 months and younger. In our experience, the diagnostic yield for children referred over the age of 13 is quite low, and placing this age limit will allow us to continue to work on improving access for younger children. We will continue to see new patients over age 13 with established developmental diagnoses (i.e., Down syndrome, intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder) for consultative care. This permanent restriction is in effect, beginning May 1.

Transition Medicine Primary Care clinic to close

The Transition Medicine Primary Care clinic, located in Adolescent Medicine, is closing and will no longer accept new referrals. The clinic will transition current patients out to other primary care providers (including some in Adolescent Medicine for age-appropriate patients) over the next six to 12 months.

Consultative transition services will still be available for patients with established, already identified developmental disabilities through Jason Woodward, MD, in DDBP. Referral for these patients, between ages 16 and 25, can be made through the DDBP referral line at 513-636-4611 or 1-800-344-2462, ext. 4611. This is not a diagnostic clinic, but a clinic to facilitate transition to adulthood for patients with established developmental disabilities.
