Philips Achieva™ 3.0T X-series MRI scanner

The Achieva™ 3.0T X-series features an actively shielded, superconducting magnet with large 50 cm FOV capabilities. The RF system provides 32 RF receive channels, and the scanner has a comprehensive collection of surface coils including a 32-channel phased-array cardiac coil, a 32-channel head coil, and an “rf box” that permits the construction of custom-built coils. The X-series Quasar Dual gradient allows selection of either 40 mT/m peak amplitude combined with a slew rate of 200 T/m/s, or in studies such as diffusion-weighted imaging that profit from high gradient amplitude, an 80 mT/m peak amplitude with a slew rate of 100 T/m/s. Both performance levels can be achieved over the entire FOV with good linearity. The scanner has full multi-nuclear capability including a complete suite of in-house and commercially built 129Xe, 3He, 13C and 31P coils. The system has a dual-transmit body coil that overcomes dielectric shading artifacts. Scanner accessories include an MR elastography system and ancillary equipment needed for fMRI studies including a full audiovisual paradigm system by Avotec, and MR-compatible EEG hardware.
