Designing New Proteins to Fight Cancer, Aging and Infectious Diseases
The Mout lab is designing brand new protein molecules using groundbreaking computational methods to modulate immune cell development and their functions.
To address some of the most challenging problems in cancer, aging, autoimmunity and infectious diseases, we use a combination of computational and experimental cutting-edge technologies in protein design, immunology, and cancer biology.
The Mout Lab is specifically interested in developing ‘humanized’ protein molecules with research focusing on three key areas:
- boosting T-cell function to fight cancer
- rejuvenating T cells to better combat the effects of aging
- developing cancer vaccines by generating rare dendritic cells.
Ultimately, the lab aims to design the next generation of protein-based therapeutics—turning advances in protein design and immunobiology into new strategies for treating disease.
