The Pediatric and Adolescent Migraine Screen (PAMS) Tool
The Pediatric and Adolescent Migraine Screen (PAMS) is a screening tool developed at the Headache Center at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. It gives school nurses a reliable way to help them determine whether students with headaches are actually suffering from migraine headaches. The tool is a simple, three question survey tailored for students in different age groups. When nurses use the questionnaire to identify children whose headaches are likely to be migraines, effective migraine treatment can be delivered in a timelier manner.
Students identified as migraine sufferers should be advised to see a headache specialist as soon as possible to prevent further worsening of their headaches.
