Research That Transforms Care for Children with Blood Disorders
At Cincinnati Children’s, research isn’t something that happens behind the scenes—it’s a vital part of how we deliver the best possible care to your child. Our Division of Hematology is constantly working to discover better treatments and cures for conditions like sickle cell disease, hemophilia, blood clots, and rare vascular anomalies.
We’ve been studying blood disorders for over 100 years. That deep experience helps us lead cutting-edge research today—research that directly benefits the patients we care for. Our doctors and scientists work side by side with nurses, social workers, psychologists, and other specialists to make sure every child receives care that’s informed by the latest discoveries.
Some of our research topics include:
- Finding better treatments for sickle cell disease to reduce pain and hospital visits
- Developing new therapies for hemophilia that may reduce or eliminate the need for frequent infusions
- Understanding rare blood and vascular conditions so we can diagnose them earlier and treat them more effectively
We also lead national and international studies, and we’ve created special registries to better understand rare diseases—like congenital dyserythropoietic anemia (CDA)—so families like yours can get answers and hope.
When your child is treated here, they benefit from a team that’s not only delivering expert care today, but also shaping the future of medicine for kids everywhere.
