Hematology Expertise Across Rare and Complex Conditions
Hemoglobinopathies
Our teams care for children with hemoglobinopathies such as sickle cell disease, thalassemia and rare erythrocyte disorders. Families receive care through our nationally recognized Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center, with access to long-standing expertise and coordinated support.
Hemostasis and Thrombosis
Children with bleeding or clotting conditions receive care through our Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center, including a federally funded Hemophilia Treatment Center and our Young Women with Bleeding Disorders Clinic. We provides team-based care helping families manage diagnosis, treatment and long-term needs.
Hemangioma and Vascular Malformations
Cincinnati Children’s is one of the largest centers in North America for hemangiomas and vascular malformations. Our program includes Centers of Excellence for hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT), Sturge-Weber syndrome and lymphatic disorders. Each year, we follow more than 4,000 patients, bringing deep experience and consistent care to families from across the U.S. and beyond.
Research That Drives Better Care
We’re not just treating blood diseases—we’re transforming how they’re understood and managed. Our cutting-edge studies have focused on topics such as:
- Personalized hydroxyurea dosing for sickle cell patients
- Gene therapy trials: promising results for sickle cell and hemophilia
- Global studies: improving care in low-resource settings
- First North American registry for congenital dyserythropoietic anemias
