Comprehensive Care for Hypoglycemia and Hyperinsulinism

At Cincinnati Children's provides comprehensive, personalized care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with all forms of hypoglycemia. Our multidisciplinary team works together to accurately diagnose the cause of your child's low blood sugar and develop an individualized treatment plan that supports healthy growth, development, and long-term well-being.

Because hypoglycemia can have many different causes, we offer expertise in the evaluation and management of a wide range of conditions, including congenital hyperinsulinism, ketotic hypoglycemia, neonatal hypoglycemia, hormone deficiencies, glycogen storage diseases, fatty acid oxidation disorders, and other rare metabolic and genetic conditions.

Your child's care may include:

  • Genetic evaluation and counseling
  • Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)
  • Individualized medical and nutritional management
  • Coordination with pediatric surgery, radiology, genetics, nutrition, and other specialists when needed
  • Ongoing follow-up to monitor growth, development, and treatment response
  • Access to clinical trials and the latest advances in hypoglycemia research, when appropriate
