I am an emergency medicine clinician and researcher at Cincinnati Children’s with board certifications in clinical informatics, pediatric emergency medicine and pediatric medicine.
My background is in failure analysis and aircraft engineering. During my first career, I enjoyed problem-solving, fixing things and working with intelligent people. However, I wanted a career that would afford me the opportunity to apply these skills directly to children. Emergency medicine allows me to do just that!
I love tackling big problems in healthcare with critical thinking and creative ideas, which led me to my specific areas of research. My focus includes implementing systems-level change to improve patient and staff experience, operational flow, and optimal, equitable patient care. I also look for ways to use technology and data analytics to achieve this goal.
My research addresses the following: 1) Identifying and assessing practical solutions which work at high system levels to improve experience, flow, care and equity; 2) Assessment and optimization of clinical workflows to reduce wasted time and resources; 3) Using large data sets.
