About

Biography

My clinical specialty is general pediatrics. I provide well care, sick care and mental health care for children and adolescents. We try to be as accessible as possible with our practice's late hours and Saturday appointments. I love that we are also staffed with a behavioral health provider in our building who works with us to support our patients experiencing mental health difficulties.

I became interested in medicine when a doctor came to talk to my second-grade class on career day. After hearing him speak, I knew I wanted to be a doctor. While in training, I loved many different types of medical practice (except surgery!). Eventually, I realized that children and the unique challenges they face really draw me in.

I was raised in Alabama and earned my Bachelor of Science Degree at Guilford College in North Carolina. I then attended the University of Alabama School of Medicine, where I obtained my Medical Doctorate Degree along with completing my residency in pediatrics. I relocated to Batesville in 2007, and began working for Children's Health Care, where I continue to work today. I have also served as co-medical director for the past several years.

I try to be very approachable to kids and families. I understand that raising children (even happy, healthy ones) is stressful, and caring for sick children is extremely difficult. I spend extra time with patients and families, explaining what I think is going on in ways that are easy to understand. Providing clear information allows families to decide what they want to do to care for their kids instead of just telling them what to do.

When I'm not working, I love being outside, taking walks with my husband, two kids and our dog, Penny. She is a ridiculously funny and cute Corgi. I also like playing disc golf and riding bikes. I enjoy reading and cooking, too. We have a big garden with raspberries, blackberries and all the usual garden vegetables.
