As a nurse practitioner in the Division of Pediatric General and Thoracic Surgery, I enjoy working with patients across their lifespan, but especially in all stages of childhood development. Children are incredible in their resilience and strength, and I learn from them every day. My specialty is in pediatric general and thoracic surgery. Working in the Pancreas Care Center, I assist with total pancreatectomy and islet auto-transplantation (TPIAT).
From a young age, I knew I wanted to pursue a profession in nursing. I grew up with two grandmothers who had chronic illnesses. There are several nurses in my family whom I observed providing compassionate and excellent medical care.
Throughout my career, I have worked in both adult and pediatric specialties. I completed my undergraduate nursing education at a college that focused on creating caring and kind communities through love and respect for the dignity of each individual. These values are embedded in my academics and remain a vital part of my life and career. With a deep desire to give back to my patients and community, I focus on individual dignity, peace and justice, reconciliation and responsible stewardship.
In my free time, I enjoy being with my husband and two young children. We like spending time outdoors together. I love to travel, and I studied abroad in London. I hope to live there again someday. I love animals and I am passionate about elephant conservation. Upon retirement, I plan to volunteer at a sanctuary for orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation.
