Broken Leg Leads to Fight for Her Life
Had it not been for a broken leg, the staff at Cincinnati Children's might not have met Ella Battson in time to save her life. ER doctors fixing her leg found something worse: a tumor in her stomach. Her fall off of a swing led to a 21-day stay in the hospital to fight liver cancer. Seven years later, Ella is cancer-free and wants to be a nurse like the ones who cared for her. "She is a very compassionate little girl," says her mom, Gretchen. "And I think that a lot of that comes from her experience here."
