Vidya Chidambaran, MD, MS is principal investigator, an M.D. Associate Professor of Anesthesia and Pediatrics, is a pediatric anesthesiologist, researcher and Director of the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center perioperative pain service at Cincinnati Children's. Dr Chidambaran investigates pharmacogenomics of opioids and biopsychosocial determinants of acute and chronic post-surgical pain including psychosocial, genomic and epigenetic markers. In addition to her clinical experience in pediatric anesthesiology and pain, she has a Masters Degree in Clinical and Translational research, and is cross-trained in genomics and translational research. Her work focuses on understanding how morphine pharmacogenomics predicts risk of respiratory depression in children, and clinical integration of multifactorial predictive modeling in pediatric healthcare. Dr Chidambaran has considerable expertise in conducting prospective genotype blinded clinical trials in adolescents undergoing spine fusion, and population PK-PD modeling for dosing in morbidly obese adolescents.
