Enhanced Outpatient Mental Health Therapy Program

Enhanced Outpatient Mental Health Therapy Program

When weekly therapy isn't enough, we're here to help.

The Enhanced Outpatient Mental Health Therapy Program (EOP) provides short-term, intensive support for children and teens who need more frequent care than traditional weekly or biweekly outpatient therapy. With more frequent sessions (at least 2 each week), we aim to help patients and their families build skills, reduce symptom interference and get back to everyday life with greater confidence. Our providers offer Cognitive-Behavioral, evidence-based treatments, which can be delivered in individual and/or group settings. Individual therapy services can be provided in-person, via telehealth (if the patient is within the state of Ohio), or a combination of both depending on clinical appropriateness.

How is this program different?

Our program offers:

  • 2-4 therapy sessions each week for more intensive support
  • A structured, short-term approach lasting up to 5 weeks
  • Active caregiver involvement throughout treatment (caregivers are expected to be present for every session)
  • Skill-building and practice assigned between sessions to support faster progress

Who would the Enhanced Outpatient Mental Health Therapy Program be right for?

The Enhanced Outpatient Mental Health Therapy Program may be a good fit for children and teens who need more support than traditional weekly or biweekly therapy can provide. We help children and teens ages 6–18 who are experiencing impairment related to:

  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Behavior challenges (not including physical aggression)
    • Missing school regularly or being unable to fully participate in school.
    • Difficulties at home that continue despite support from parents or caregivers.
    • Relationship challenges that are causing ongoing problems at home, school or in the community.
    • Struggling to complete age-appropriate daily tasks and responsibilities.
    • Emotional reactions that frequently interfere with success at home, school or with peers.

Most patients return to their previous outpatient provider at less frequent intervals post EOP treatment.

Program Considerations

To help ensure families receive the most effective care, the Enhanced Outpatient Mental Health Therapy Program is designed for children and teens who can safely participate in enhanced outpatient treatment and have a caregiver who is able to participate in sessions.

Some children and teens may benefit from a different type or level of care, including those with immediate safety concerns for self or others, ongoing substance use concerns, specific clinical concerns or significant developmental needs.

Patients who need medical stabilization, ongoing monitoring or a higher level of support may be better served in programs such as inpatient psychiatric hospitalization or a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).

Wondering if this program is right for your child?

Our team will review your child's needs and help determine the best treatment option. If another service would be a better fit, we'll help connect your family with the appropriate level of care.
