A collaborative team of doctors, researchers, nurse managers and social workers supports the diagnosis and clinical care for HLH patients at Cincinnati Children’s. Alexandra “Lisa” H. Filipovich, MD, one of the world’s leading authorities on HLH, leads the group.
Even though Cincinnati Children’s is already seen as the most respected destination in North America for HLH care, we are never satisfied with the status quo. Our vision is to increase care in the United States and beyond.
From diagnosis to bone marrow transplant to transitioning into a post-BMT life to long-term follow-up, the HLH Center of Excellence at Cincinnati Children’s will provide physicians and families with a single resource for complete, family-centered care with the nation’s most respected HLH physicians.
We plan to increase the number of patients we are able to treat at Cincinnati Children’s by training more physician scientists, providing specialized training for nurses and ancillary staff, and dedicating more physical space to HLH care.
We will continue to share our knowledge and training techniques with other medical centers across the country and around the world. More patients with HLH will be diagnosed and treated earlier and go on to live their best lives.
