Transitional Care

Transitional Care

The Pediatric Home Ventilator Program at Cincinnati Children’s is home to an 18-bed inpatient unit that specializes in the care of children dependent on ventilation support. Our goal is to prepare your child for the transition from hospital care to home care; whatever her specific needs may be, we can address them to ensure a smooth transition to home.

We also care for patients who already manage mechanical ventilation at home, but need to come to Cincinnati Children’s for non-intensive care inpatient treatment. We perform more than 500 admissions and discharges per year.

About Our Team

Our experienced faculty and staff all focus on providing family-centered care. We coordinate with services such as critical care, surgery and pediatric rehabilitation to make sure we address every need your child and family may have.

The team conducts rounds every morning, and we encourage your participation and input. You and your family will play a key role in our planning of your child’s care. If you cannot be present for rounds, we will work with you to ensure you receive information and give your input as we establish and update your child’s care plan.
