I work as a nurse practitioner in adolescent primary care at the Teen Health Center at Cincinnati Children’s, and I also provide healthcare for adolescents in juvenile detention. In addition to primary care, I specialize in adolescent reproductive health and health promotion, with a special interest in LGBTQ teens. Adolescents are my favorite age group, and I’ve always wanted a career working with teens.
I believe healthcare is a collaboration between the provider, patient and family. My care philosophy is gentle and patient-centered. I try to meet my patients where they are, and I do not believe in blaming, shaming or punitive patient care.
My approach is to promote the strengths of patients and families. I feel honored to collaborate with them to foster and improve health. When patients leave an appointment with me, I want them to feel cared for and respected.
I was honored to receive the 2016 Unsung Hero Award from the regional chapter of the Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine.
When I’m not working, I love spending free time with my family and friends.
