Hematopathology
The Hematopathology service at Cincinnati Children’s provides expert diagnostic evaluation of hematologic diseases in infants, children, and adolescents. Our team specializes in the assessment of blood, bone marrow, and lymphoid tissues to diagnose leukemias, lymphomas, bone marrow failure syndromes, and histiocytic disorders.
Collaborative Centers
We work closely with the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute (CBDI), one of the top pediatric hematology centers in the country, as well as with clinical teams in bone marrow transplantation, immunology, and laboratory medicine. Our pathologists also support national and international hematopathology research.
Consultative Service
We offer comprehensive consultative services for bone marrow aspirates and biopsies, lymph nodes, peripheral blood smears, and body fluids. Our diagnostic process integrates morphology, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, cytogenetics, and molecular testing when indicated. Each case is reviewed in the context of multidisciplinary discussions to ensure accurate diagnosis and optimal treatment planning. We also provide second opinions as per request.
