Gastrointestinal (GI) Pathology Services

Hospitals across the region rely on the experienced pathologists at Cincinnati Children’s for expert diagnosis of pediatric gastrointestinal diseases. Our specialists also provide consultations for cases from across the country and internationally.

For decades, our pediatric GI pathology services have focused on both the diagnosis and research of childhood gastrointestinal diseases. Our pathologists work closely with clinicians in specialized centers to provide advanced, collaborative care. These centers include:

These centers are part of the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition, consistently ranked among the top pediatric GI programs in the United States. Additionally, our Surgery Department includes the Colorectal Center, offering cutting-edge care for children with colorectal abnormalities.

Depending on the case, pathologists and laboratory staff may perform specialized ultrastructural, immunohistochemical, histochemical, cytogenetic, and molecular studies to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. Our team also has decades of experience supporting clinical trials and novel therapies for pediatric GI disorders.
