Our team has decades of experience in both clinical diagnosis and research of childhood GI diseases.
Collaborative Centers
Our GI pathologists work closely with leading clinical teams across specialized centers within the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition, one of the top-ranked pediatric GI programs in the U.S. as well as other divisions like Pediatric General and Thoracic Surgery and Allergy and Immunology. These centers include:
- Schubert-Martin Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center
- Cincinnati Center for Eosinophilic Disorders
- Cincinnati Children’s Intestinal Care Center
- Cincinnati Children's Colorectal Center
Depending on the case, pathologists and laboratory staff may perform specialized ultrastructural, immunohistochemical, histochemical, cytogenetic, and molecular studies to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. Our team also has decades of experience supporting clinical trials and novel therapies for pediatric GI disorders.
Consultative Service
We provide comprehensive consultative services for challenging or complex pediatric GI pathology cases. Our pathologists are available for second opinions, including evaluation of biopsy and resection specimens. When necessary, we coordinate with clinical teams and laboratory experts to recommend additional studies—such as molecular testing or immunohistochemistry—to guide diagnosis and management. Our services are available nationally and internationally.
