Bluegrass for Babies logo.“Our lives were forever changed because of the care we received from the physicians at Cincinnati Children’s,” says Anne Schneider, a Bluegrass for Babies cofounder. “We created Bluegrass for Babies to not only raise funds for the hospital, but with the goal to also educate parents on raising healthy children.”

Anne knows firsthand the importance of having a healthy child. When he was less than a day old, Anne’s son, Nicholas, received life-saving surgery at Cincinnati Children’s. Now, Anne and her family are coming together to help the babies and families served by Cincinnati Children’s by supporting the Perinatal Institute through funds raised at the seventh annual Bluegrass for Babies concert.

In 2009, Anne and her husband, Matt, repurposed their annual backyard bluegrass party, turning it into a successful fundraiser for the hospital, which has since raised more than $100,000.

Every fall, Bluegrass for Babies returns to Sawyer Point for its annual bluegrass concert. It features performances by some of the region’s top bluegrass bands, plenty of family-friendly activities, a variety of vendors, local and organic concessions, giveaways from exhibitors and more.

The concert lineup features performances by Ma Crow & The Lady Slippers, Comet Bluegrass All-Stars, and Hickory Robot. Ma Crow & The Lady Slippers will kick things off, performing at 3 pm, with the Comet Bluegrass All-Stars taking to the stage at 5 pm. Rounding out the evening at 6:45 pm will be Hickory Robot. Special guest Jennifer Ellis will perform her popular children’s songs at 4:15 pm.

Again this year, kids 12 and under will be able to eat free with the purchase of an adult meal from the Green B.E.A.N. Delivery concession stand until 6 pm. One free kid’s meal will be available, per one purchased adult meal.

Tickets for the Bluegrass for Babies benefit concert are $15 for adults in advance and $20 day of, with children admitted for free.

Tickets can be purchased at www.healthyrootsfoundation.org. Parking is $8 in the Sawyer Point parking lot. Discounted tickets are available for groups of 10-plus adults. Please contact anne@healthyrootsfoundation.org for more details.
