For most of us, it’s second nature to buckle up in the car. It’s easy for adults to simply strap a seatbelt across shoulders and laps. But, for some of our most precious cargo – infants, toddlers, preschoolers and young children – it can be difficult to know what is safest.
That’s why the Greater Cincinnati Automobile Dealers Association (GCADA) is supporting the Comprehensive Children’s Injury Center (CCIC) at Cincinnati Children’s for its 20th year by holding a special fundraising event. Held in conjunction with its annual Cincinnati Auto Expo, the REV IT UP!! Sneak Peek VIP Party helps to kick off the Expo and expects to raise more than $20,000 for the Child Passenger Safety program, produced through the CCIC. The program helps educate parents and families about the safest way for children to travel in cars, inspects car seat and booster seat installations and provides specialized car seats and booster seats to families in need.
“All of our dealerships are very passionate about making sure everyone can safely travel,” says Sandy Moeller, Director of Member Services for the GCADA. “It was a natural fit for us to support Cincinnati Children’s and the Child Passenger Safety Program there. Parents often have a lot of questions about car seats and booster seats. The technology keeps changing and it’s important for everyone to have current information, which is what the CCIC helps disseminate.”
The REV IT UP!! Sneak Peek VIP Party is a Giving Hope event and is held in February. All proceeds benefit Cincinnati Children’s. Attendees can watch the opening night of the Auto Expo from the second-floor bridge at the Duke Energy Center while enjoying cocktails, hors’ d’oeuvres and live music. Guests at the VIP event can also visit the Expo floor throughout the evening.
“We have some really great sponsors that help us off-set the cost of the evening so that all ticket sales can benefit the hospital directly,” Sandy says. “We’ve been supporting Cincinnati Children’s for more than 20 years, but because of our sponsors, we’ve been able to increase that support. To date, we’ve been able to donate close to $200,000.”
