DDBP and Perlman Center team up

Staff Bulletin. The Perlman Center has joined the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (DDBP) to expand care for children with cerebral palsy and other physically limiting conditions.

Annually, the Perlman Center serves over 1,300 children and adults. Since the 1970s as an affiliate of the hospital and since it became a division in 2008, the center has grown to become a leading provider of assistive technology services in our region, offering a range of interdisciplinary therapies, care coordination and support for families.

DDBP shares in the commitment of the Perlman Center and its namesake, Aaron Perlman, MD, to provide on-going treatment, programming and services to children with disabilities. And like its new partner, it first began as an affiliate of the hospital.

“The Perlman Center is an amazing and distinctive complement to the array of services Cincinnati Children’s now provides for children with cerebral palsy. No institution provides a higher level of care for this patient population,” said Jim McCarthy, MD, director, Orthopaedics.

Mary McMahon, MD, Aaron W. Perlman Chair, Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine, added, "In addition to exceptional care coordination and assistive technology expertise, the Perlman Center offers an integrated therapy model for preschool children that is nationally recognized and truly unique. Our patients and families have benefited greatly from Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation's long-standing partnership with the Perlman Center. We look forward to the exciting new opportunities that a formal partnership between DDBP and the Perlman Center will provide."

Referrals to the Perlman Center can be made through Epic. External referrals can be made to the Perlman Center by using a Specialty Referral form or by calling 513-636-4601.
