Jaimie Nathan, MD, surgical director of the Pancreas Care Center at Cincinnati Children’s, was honored recently by the Ohio/Kentucky Chapter of the National Pancreas Foundation at their Gala for a Cure in Mason, OH. He was recognized for his work in building the Pancreas Care Center from its early stages into a research engine driving cutting-edge discovery in the care of pancreatic disorders.

Nathan completed his general surgery training at Duke University, his pediatric surgery training at Cincinnati Children’s and his transplant fellowship at the University of Cincinnati. He has been on the faculty at the medical center since 2009. He also serves as surgical director of the Kidney and Intestinal Transplant programs and associate surgical director of the Liver Transplant program.

Michael Gittelman, MD, FAAP, received a special achievement award from the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics recently for his leadership and commitment to furthering the mission of the Ohio AAP. Specifically, he was honored for his work on the Planning Implementation Performance committee (PIP) of the Operations Pillar, the redesigning of the program structure and creating a system showing direct outcomes for the programs of the Ohio AAP.

Gittelman is the co-director of the Comprehensive Children’s Injury Center and an attending physician in the Division of Emergency Medicine at Cincinnati Children’s. He is also president-elect of the Ohio AAP, co-chair of the chapter’s Injury Prevention Quality Improvement Program and director of Continuing Medical Education.
