Marathe

Kalyani Marathe, MD, MPH, formerly an assistant professor of dermatology and pediatrics at Children’s National in Washington, DC, has joined Cincinnati Children’s as director of the Division of Dermatology. Marathe obtained her undergraduate degree in English summa cum laude from the University of Florida and her MD degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 2009. In 2011 she received her MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

After her internship, Marathe completed a dermatology residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School and a fellowship in pediatric dermatology at Columbia University in New York City. She served as an assistant professor of dermatology and pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine (Washington, DC) and as an attending physician at Children’s National from 2014 to the present, with institutional teaching awards in 2015 and 2016.

She is actively involved with the American Academy of Dermatology and is the vulvar dermatology section editor for the Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. In addition to her expertise in vulvar dermatology, she has special interests in epidermolysis bullosa, atopic dermatitis, vascular malformations, and rheumatic skin diseases, in which areas she has given numerous regional and national presentations.

Marathe and her husband, Robert Weston, welcomed their first child in January.

“I am thrilled to be here and work on an excellent team within a truly amazing institution,” said Marathe. “The Dermatology division has big plans to grow and improve patient access. I am looking forward to collaborating with colleagues across the institution to care for the medically complex patients here.”
