Advancing Science Through Participation in Multisite Clinical Trials

The Division of Critical Care Medicine has been participating in national and international pediatric research trials for more than two decades. Particular areas of focus include sepsis and septic shock, hypothermia for cardiac arrest, glucose control in critically ill patients, severe traumatic brain injury and acute respiratory disease syndrome (ARDS).

Our physician-researchers are active in PALISI, the Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Investigator network. They serve as investigators and co-authors for various clinical studies sponsored by PALISI, including several that have led to discoveries related to sepsis, ARDS, multiorgan failure and other acute conditions.

Critical care medicine studies at Cincinnati Children’s receive funding from the National Institutes of Health, Cincinnati Children’s Research Foundation, national and international scientific organizations, and pharmaceutical industry partners.
