Care for Common Conditions That Don't Require an In-person Visit

When your child’s primary care provider isn't available, CincyKids Health Connect offers virtual urgent care visits 24/7 from the comfort of your home. Learn more about the conditions we can and cannot assess and treat.

Conditions and Symptoms We Can Assess and Treat:

  • Allergies
  • Bites (Animal, Human, Insect)
  • Burns (Minor)
  • Cold and Respiratory-Related Issues*: Bronchiolitis, Bronchitis, COVID-19 Concerns, Cough, Congestion, Croup, Runny Nose, Sinusitis, Sore Throat
  • Colic
  • Dizziness
  • Earache, Specifically Swimmer's Ear and Ear Tube Drainage (We can only care for ear infection if you have a TytoCare device.)
  • Fever (2+ years)
  • Flu-like Symptoms*
  • Head Injury (Minor; Without Loss of Consciousness)
  • Head Lice
  • Headaches
  • Stomach Issues: Constipation, Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting
  • Pink Eye
  • Skin Conditions: Diaper Rash, Eczema, Impetigo, Poison Ivy, Psoriasis, Rashes, Roseola, Scabies, Sunburn, Yeast Infection, Warts
  • Overuse Injuries, Sprains or Strains
  • Thrush
  • Urinary Symptoms*

If it’s not an emergency and you’re not sure whether your child should be seen in person or treated virtually, we can help. During your video visit, your provider will assess your child and refer you to an in-person visit if necessary. If our provider determines that you need immediate in-person care, you will not be charged for your video visit.

*Lab Test Required for Antibiotics

Please note: if you believe your child needs antibiotics for the following, a Cincinnati Children's lab test is required. Learn why antibiotics aren't always the answer.

  • Cold and Respiratory-Related Issues: Bronchiolitis, Bronchitis, COVID-19 (confirmation) Concerns, Cough, Congestion, Croup, Runny Nose, Sinusitis, Sore Throat 
  • Flu-like Symptoms (flu confirmation)
  • Urinary Symptoms

Conditions and Symptoms We Cannot Address

Virtual urgent care visits are meant to evaluate minor injuries and illnesses. If your child has a serious or life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the emergency department immediately. Here are some specific conditions we cannot address:

  • Abdominal Pain
  • Chronic Headaches or Migraines
  • Ear Infections (unless you have a TytoCare device)
  • Fever in Newborns and Children Under Age 2
  • Injury Involving the Neck or Back
  • Loss of Consciousness
  • Mental Health Situations (Please call 513-636-4124 for mental health concerns.)
  • Obviously Broken Bones
  • Pneumonia
  • Shortness of Breath or Difficulty Breathing
  • Uncontrolled Bleeding
  • We're also unable to process orders for blood tests or provide referrals to subspecialists.
