Ensuring Appropriate Scientific Use: Discover Together Biobank Biospecimen & Data Access Committee

The Discover Together Biobank’s Biospecimen & Data Access Committee reviews all requests from investigators for biospecimens and data housed within the biobank.

The committee has two key goals: That the biospecimen and data requests:

1. Fit within Cincinnati Children’s institutional policies

2. Facilitate scientifically ethical and relevant use

To ensure objectivity and integrity, the committee is an interdisciplinary team representing views from a variety of areas, including those skilled in genomic analysis, the patient / family and community perspective, representatives from the Discover Together Biobank and Cincinnati Children’s Pathology Division, and those with regulatory knowledge. Up to nine people review each request for samples or data.
