Coordinated Team-Based Care

People with DSD may need care from many specialists. Our interdisciplinary team includes experts in endocrinology, genetics, gynecology, urology, psychology, social work, child life and bioethics.

We meet regularly to review each patient’s needs and make sure families receive consistent recommendations from every provider. This coordinated approach helps families avoid confusion and creates a more seamless care experience.

Personalized Support for Every Family

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to DSD care. Our team develops a personalized care plan based on you/your child’s diagnosis, development, medical needs and family goals.

We also focus on whole-person care, including emotional health, coping support and long-term well-being. Families partner closely with our clinic coordinator, who helps schedule appointments, answer questions and connect families with support resources.

Advanced Testing and Research Opportunities

Our center offers access to advanced genetic testing supported by both a geneticist and a genetic counselor. Families receive guidance to better understand test results and how they may affect treatment decisions and future planning.

We are also one of a small number of centers nationally with a fertility preservation research protocol for individuals with DSD. Our involvement in research helps families access the latest care approaches and clinical opportunities when appropriate.

Support for Second Opinions

Families may seek a second opinion when facing complex decisions about DSD care. Our team provides thoughtful evaluations, education and guidance to help patients and families better understand their diagnosis and treatment options.
