Career Learning Programs for Middle School, High School and College Students

Cincinnati Children’s has programs for middle school, high school and college students considering careers in biomedical research and clinical practice.

Program Eligibility
SURF (Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship)
  • Undergraduate students
  • High school seniors can apply but highly competitive
  • Paid 10 week program starting in late May during which students explore clinical, basic science, translation, and educational research in clinical and laboratory settings; shadow mentors; and present their research at a Capstone event.

Job Shadow Program
  • -High school juniors (at least 16 years old) and seniors
  • Youths shadow professionals in specific healthcare careers for four (4) hours.
  • Monthly dates from April to September
Discovery Day
  • Middle and high school students
  • Youths interact with researchers and scientists and visit labs and the Winslow Research Pavilion
  • Look for announcements in the spring.
