Associate Professor of Pediatrics
Dr. Shah is a board certified pediatric endocrinologist and clinical lipidologist. Her research interests focus on understanding how adolescent onset obesity and diabetes impact long term health. To understand how atherosclerosis develops, her lab has focused on lipid subspecies and how they are altered in disease states. Dr. Shah has ongoing collaborations with multiple center clinical studies including the SEARCH for Diabetes in Youth Study and the Treatment Options for Type 2 Diabetes in Adolescents and Youth (TODAY) study. Dr. Shah treats teens and young adults with endocrine disorders, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. She is the receipt of numerous awards including young investigator awards from The International Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes, The National Lipid Association and The American Society of Clinical Investigation. In her spare time, Dr. Shah enjoys spending time with her family and friends, distance running and reading a good book.
