Severe obesity is a growing problem among adolescents. Unfortunately, few effective therapies exist for weight loss. Bariatric weight loss surgery is growing in popularity because it results in dramatic weight loss and improves metabolic diseases. Our lab aims to understand how weight loss surgeries alter lipid subspecies composition and function and how this surgery may improve cardiovascular disease risk.
