Down Syndrome Study Executive Function Study For Children 2 to 7 Years Old
Why are we doing this research?
Cincinnati Children's is conducting a research study to learn more about what outcome measures are best to measure executive function in children with Down syndrome. Executive function is the thinking skills needed when doing any problem solving or planning.Who can participate?
Children 2 to 7 years old with Down syndrome may be eligible to participate.

What will happen in the study?
If your child qualifies for this study, you will come into Cincinnati Children’s either 8 times for 90 to 120 minute time periods or 4 times for 3 to 4 hour time periods over the course of a year.
At each visit, your child will play numerous games with one of our research team members. These activities include answering questions, pointing, using different toys, and memory games. While your child is completing these tasks, you will be asked to fill out several questionnaires about your child’s development.
You will be given a consent form that thoroughly explains all of the details of the study. A member of the study staff will review the consent form with you and will be sure that all of your questions are answered.
What are the good things that can happen from this research?
You or your child will not receive a direct benefit from participating in this study, but it may help children with Down syndrome in the future.What are the bad things that can happen from this research?
There are minimal risks associated with this study. Your child may get tired or frustrated with the activities, and we will be happy to offer breaks or end tasks, if needed. We will discuss other possible risks or discomforts with you prior to enrolling in the study.Will you/your child be paid to be in this research study?
Families with receive $200 for time and effort.
