Healthy Participant Study for Children 6 to 12 Years Old

Why are we doing this research?

Cincinnati Children's is conducting a research study, sometimes known as a clinical trial or clinical study, to learn about certain skin characteristics and how those characteristics are related to the severity of eczema and the skin’s response to different treatments.

Who can participate?

Children who are 6 to 12 years old who do not have eczema may participate.

  • Healthy Infants, Children and Adolescent Studies

What will happen in the study?

This study includes 10 visits to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital over 24-week period. Here are some of the things that will happen in this study:

Your child will have a:

  • Skin swab collection
  • Skin tape strip collection
  • Blood draw

You will be given a consent form that thoroughly explains all of the details of the study. A member of the study staff will review the consent form with you and will be sure that all of your questions are answered.

What are the good things that can happen from this research?

The goal through this study will be to develop evidence-based, precision medicine approaches to address disease in the most severe eczema patients. Knowledge from this study may allow development to help eczema patients and dupilumab non-responders.

What are the bad things that can happen from this research?

We will discuss possible risks or discomforts with those interested in learning more about the study.

Will you/your child be paid to be in this research study?

Participants will receive up to $505 for their time and effort.
