Deborah A. Borchers, MD

When I was younger, I knew that I wanted to care for children but thought I would be a teacher. Becoming a pediatrician allows me to care for children and families, help parents understand more about their child and help kids learn how to keep themselves healthy.

As a pediatrician, I care for high-risk newborns, children exposed to drugs prenatally, children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and children with developmental delays. I’m also involved in foster care and adoption.

In our high-risk clinic for newborns, I’m a member of a team that provides comprehensive care for children born early and those exposed to opiates before birth. Our team approach gives parents support in helping a child develop to their full potential.

I highly value my relationships with families. Parents always know their child best, and I hope to be a partner in their child’s care. As a team, we work to help a child reach their best potential and be healthy, happy and loved.

In 2005, I was honored to receive the Congressional Angel in Adoption award presented by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute in Washington DC.

In my free time, I enjoy walking and I have done many half marathons and completed a full marathon in September 2019. I also enjoy crocheting. Family is very important to me and becoming a grandma is a huge delight!
