Christine H. Heubi, MD

I’m a pediatric ear, nose and throat (ENT) doctor. I specialize in caring for children who come to Cincinnati Children’s for help with sleep conditions and Down syndrome.

As a mother myself, it's important for me to be on the same page as the parents. Moms and dads know their children best. I work hard, alongside families, to achieve the best, most comprehensive care for my patients.

I focus on the child as a whole and help the families achieve comprehensive care. My sleep training lets me evaluate and manage sleep conditions beyond obstructive sleep apnea. I also enjoy taking care of special populations and have focused much of my research on children with Down syndrome.

Many of my experiences in pediatrics started at a young age. My father is a Cincinnati Children’s pediatric liver specialist. I would go to work with him and attend liver transplant picnics. The field of pediatric ENT fits me because I can make a significant impact with small interventions that improve the quality of a child's life. Ear tubes help a child with recurrent ear infections. Long-term care for ear, nose, and throat conditions assists a child with Down syndrome. Attentive care and guidance let a child heal after a tracheostomy tube removal.

In my research, I work to understand better obstructive sleep apnea and other sleep disorders in children with Down syndrome. I also study ear problems and swallowing dysfunction. My team investigates surgical management of persistent obstructive sleep apnea after the adenoids and tonsils are removed. We use new technologies to study the flow of cerebrospinal fluid (cineMRI) and view the airway through drug-induced sleep endoscopy (DISE).

I received the 2018 Otolaryngology Top Research Publication award for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

In my free time, I enjoy being outside with my three children and my husband. During college at a Big 10 school, I was a varsity soccer player and captain. I transitioned out of college athletics by running the Flying Pig and the Chicago marathons.
