Resources for Our Inpatients and Their Caregivers

Visiting Patients

Our rooms are single-patient rooms, and guardians may be with their child 24 hours a day. However, there are established visiting hours for other important guests. Consult our Visiting Guidelines for these hours and other important information, and remember that any visitors other than parents, grandparents or caregivers must check in at the front desk.

Please protect against germs! Ask all visitors to wash their hands before and after visiting your child’s room. No one is allowed to visit if they have been sick recently or currently feel sick. To protect your child, do not allow live plants, flowers or latex balloons on the unit.

Food Services

Good and nourishing food is an important part of any day, it’s no different when you or your loved one is in the hospital. Learn more about Food Services.

  • Cafeteria: Open 24 hours
  • Room Service: Call 6-3663 (5-digit extension from your child’s room)
  • Guest dining cards can be bought in the cafeteria, or call Guest Services. They can be used to order from room service.

Child Life

Our Child Life specialists are committed to care that provides coping by injecting normalcy into your stay. We promote play, education, developmental and psychosocial support through crafts, video games, games, movies and more. Call 6-0605 or 513-636-0605 and learn more about Child Life services.

Family Resource Center

The Family Resource Center is your living room away from home. Relax and get assistance with non-clinical life needs – charge your phone, read a book or watch television by the fireplace, use a computer lab, play games, access an outdoor patio, even host a birthday party. Call 6-7606 or 513-636-7606 and learn more about the Family Resource Center.

Gift Shop

You can visit a gift shop at either our Burnet or Liberty Hospital locations. Volunteers sell a variety of unique, hand-picked children’s merchandise, gifts and personal items. Gift Shop proceeds provide financial support for our clinical and research work.

Holistic Health

Cincinnati Children’s values the power of holistic wellness blended with your medical care. Services include specialized massage, yoga, reflexology, visualization, relaxation techniques and more. Ask your nurse for the holistic health care contact information and learn more about our holistic health services.

Pastoral Care and Spiritual Support

Our patients and their loved ones have diverse emotional and spiritual needs on their cancer journeys. Our chaplains are able to attend to these differing expressions of spirituality through visits, prayer, support, encouragement, sacraments and more. Call 6-4376 or 513-636-4376 to speak with someone about spiritual support and learn more about pastoral care services.

Hospital School Program

Through the Hospital School Program, our patients can reach their academic goals, connect with peers and maintain a sense of normalcy. Call 6-0606 or 513-636-0606 to speak with someone about school services and learn more about the Hospital School Program.

ATM and Postal Services

Our ATM and Postal Services are located outside the cafeteria near C.

Playroom

The Playroom is an important release for children in our care. Play allows patients to think forget their worries and have fun and make connections. Your child may use the playroom if they have not had a fever in 24 hours, and if that child is not in isolated care. Your child’s nurse can answer questions.

  • Location: A5C
  • Hours: Monday-Friday—9:30 am–noon, 1:30–4:30 pm and 6–8 pm; Saturday, Sunday and holidays—10 am–noon and 2–4 pm
